Saco River Valley Chapter
Fields of Zion International
About us:
We are a local chapter assembly of Fields of Zion International with the mission of developing & implementing Intentional Christian Communities within the Saco River Valley region of Maine & New Hampshire. Together we access the basic needs of our communities: food, water, shelter and clothing, then develop the resources, infrastructure and means to best meet those needs through a community focused approach to sustainable living.
Our core assembly acts as a bridge between the church, community, business, investors and local government. Our members utilize their individual giftings and talents to build strong community ties while upholding traditional values. Working together we affect positive change in our communities from the ground up while shining the light of Christ for all to see.
Goals:
- Establish a local core assembly of men and women leaders devoted to serving their community.
- Determine the most important needs within our communities in regards to basic quality of living.
- Determine how best to meet those needs through intentional community development.
- Establish Interactive Farmstead & Cultural Learning Centers which demonstrate how to live in harmony with the Earth and our Creator.
- Build a network of craftsmen, businessmen, investors, farmers and other agricultural producers.
Saco River Valley Chapter Active Projects:
Working with partner businesses & investors we are developing a model sustainable community space, centered around our existing Interactive Farmstead & Cultural Learning Center at Saco River Farms in Steep Falls, Me.

This project is well underway, however there is much work still to be completed. Our vision for this community center includes working demonstration farms, fairgrounds, meeting space, retail natural foods market, Inn / B&B, processing & value added product space, housing, restaurant(s), and artisan shops. All in all forming the basic necessary infrastructure for an agriculturally linked sustainable community. This community would also be a living testimony of the benefits of Christian Living for all to see and witness first hand.
Saco River Valley Chapter Meetings:
Community is not community without members who have a strong desire to place others needs above their own. Our desire is to see the body of Christ rise up to its full potential in our area, so we are looking for like minded individuals and families to be part of our growing community.
